The Museum shows free films at 12:00 p.m. (doors open at 11:30 a.m.) on selected Fridays at the Winter Park Community Center, 721 West New England Avenue. Those attending are invited to bring a lunch. The Museum provides articles and refreshments. Book selections that expand on the film series are available at the Winter Park Library.
Spring Series: Film Noir
Although most frequently associated with Hollywood films in the 1940s and 50s, the roots of film noir began in Germany in the 1920s. The first week looks at these origins. Week two focuses on film noir’s artistic peak in Hollywood and Europe with movies that portray a dark, deeply flawed, and bleak world. The final week explores film noir as a tripartite composition of genre, style, and language.
