The Morse Monday Program is designed to further knowledge about art history in general and the Museum's collection in particular. These informative meetings are open to Museum members as well as to volunteers and are held at 9:45 a.m. in the McKean Pavilion.

Morse Monday Art Trips

To provide the volunteer corps with new perspectives on the Morse collections, the Museum plans one or more art field trips during the season. Two special art trips have been planned for Morse Museum volunteers this year. These trips have a limited capacity and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Cocoa Beach.  Tour of Stanley Klopfenstine's stained-glass studio and the wholesale glass supplier Art Glass House.

January 27

Orlando.  Tours of the special exhibitions Therman Statom—Stories of the New World at the Orlando Museum of Art and The World of John Sloan at The Menello Museum of American Art.

Docent Training

Special Exhibition Training

Exhibition and program-specific docent training will be held at 9:45 a.m. on select Mondays in the McKean Pavilion. Docents are also encouraged to attend as many member lectures, Morse Monday programs, and other educational events as possible.  For information on this season's special exhibitions, please meet on the following Mondays:

October 13  A Brilliant Setting—American Cut and Pressed Glass 1876-1917, Tiffany Awards and Medals installation, and Recent Aquisitions—Studies by Lockwood de Forest. Donna Climenhage, Curator, Morse Museum.

February 16   The Virtues of Simplicity—American Arts and Crafts from the Morse Collection. Jennifer Thalheimer, Curator and Collection Manager, Morse Museum.

Docent Training Course

A Museum docent course, being offered for the first time this season, takes its inspiration from our exhibition Quest of Beauty. This new docent course, offered annually and taught by Museum staff, will also cover the art movements which influenced Tiffany, American art pottery, and our collection of late-19th and early-20th century American paintings, graphics, and decorative art.

The inaugural course begins in January 2009 and is required for all docents-in-training and active docents, although any interested volunteer is welcome to participate. Each class session will run from 9:45 a.m.–noon. Dates for the course are:

Family Program Training

Morse family tours and programs are offered on select Friday evenings and in June and July. Docents who have signed on to assist in providing Morse Family Programs should plan to meet on the following Mondays:
