OUTREACH PROGRAMS

The Morse Museum offers two outreach programs to area schools, the ABC's of Art Appreciation and the Morse Mobile Museum. Both programs include curriculum units that contain sequential lesson plans offering pre- and post-visit learning opportunities.

Primary (K-2) Program

ABC's of Art Appreciation

Select dates September through May

Bring a museum professional into your classroom for a brief art history lesson and activity. These 35-minute sessions focus on the art and artists represented in the Morse Museum collection. All supplies are included.

Intermediate (3-5) Program

Morse Mobile Museum

Select dates September through May

Developed by Hugh and Jeannette McKean and implemented in 1991, the Mobile Museum was designed as an introduction to the Morse Museum's collection and the art of the late-19th and early-20th centuries. Today, this gallery on wheels visits area schools free of charge as an outreach and enrichment program of the Museum. Mobile Museum school visits are targeted for grades 3 to 5 and give students the opportunity to explore the wonder of collecting, art history, and art appreciation.

Exhibits in the Mobile Museum change periodically, but they generally include leaded-glass creations by Louis Comfort Tiffany, oil paintings, ceramics, and other objects from the Morse Museum collection.
